By Simon RogersA debt settlement is an attempt to resolve a legal dispute between two or more people by paying money to resolve the issue.
A debtor can be sued by someone else and then pay the money back to the creditor.
You could go for a cash settlement, but you risk going to court.

If you don’t pay, your debt will be settled with the creditor, or it may be paid by a court order.
If your debt has been settled, you’re likely to be liable for money you owe, or interest, as the creditor is still trying to collect the debt.
If the creditor pays the debt, the court order means the debtor must repay the money to the person whose name appears on the order.
The person who has the debt cannot contest that it’s settled.
However, they may choose to sue you in the future for any outstanding debt that is not settled.
How to resolve debt?
It is possible to settle debt disputes by signing a credit agreement that includes a debt resolution agreement.
The agreement will usually set out a number of conditions.
You will have to give the creditor a copy of the credit agreement, and they can demand the repayment of any debts that you owe.
The creditor can demand repayment from you in two ways.
They can ask you to pay back any debts you have incurred, or they can ask for payment from you to repay the outstanding debts.
You have the right to refuse to give payment.
If they ask you for money, you have the choice to accept it or to refuse it.
You can either refuse to accept payment, or you can ask the creditor to send you a letter asking you to do so.
The creditor will usually have to provide a receipt for the money they are asking you for.
You must give the court a copy if you are appealing the debt order.
If you fail to do this, you risk being sued in the courts of the country in which you are living.
You may also be able to choose to have your debt resolved by another person.
The person who is owed the debt may be able access to the original debt settlement agreement and then make the payment directly to the debtor, rather than the creditor (the “fault party”).
The payment is usually made over the phone or over the internet, and is usually recorded and kept for a few years.
The debt is then settled by the creditor and the person who got the debt pays the creditor back to you.
This is called a credit settlement.
It’s important to note that not all debts are settled this way.
If the creditor wants to make a claim against you, they will have the power to do that.
You can also choose to settle the debt by paying a cash payment.
This can be very tempting, but it can also lead to problems.
If a debt has a default, the creditor can ask that you pay it off or claim it as a debt.
If it has been disputed, you will need to go to court to decide the dispute.
If debt settlement isn’t your thing, there are other ways to resolve disputes.
If your debt is settled by a judge, you can then try to negotiate a settlement with your creditor, if you want.
